I'm supposed to plug this where!?

iCaptions Photo App Updated!

We’ve been busy fixing, tweaking, adjusting, adding, modifying and improving your favorite iPhone captioning app!  You can get the latest version from the iTunes Store at iCaptions iPad Photo App.

iPad now supported!!

– and it’s not two separate apps, so if you already purchased iCaptions for iPhone then the iPad version is free for you! All the features of iCaptions for iPhone are supported on the iPad and it supports the native resolution on the Retina as well.  One of our users requested a way to use iCaptions to make background images for the iPad, well, now it’s here!

Gnarly Bugs Rectified

The old version had some issues that crept up on us as new versions of iOS were released.  Well, we think we’ve licked them all!  We now fully support iOS 6 and iOS 7.  We fixed the issue where “misspellings” would come out with the Apple red underlines.  We now keep in the underlines while you’re typing, but they’re removed before you save or share your photo.  We also fixed up a ton of other little quirks and crashes and expect this version of iCaptions to be better than ever.

As always, leave us comments here or send e-mail to our support address if you’re having issues.  So, check out the new version and give us a great review if you love the changes and the fixes!

Finally, we’re doing a caption submission contest.  Send us your funniest captions (tweet them to @iCaptions) and we’ll post the best and the funniest versions on our iTunes Store account for everyone to see.

Thanks!

YAPA iPhone GameIt’s about time we come out with a game. Although, engineers are much better at creating physics engines than games.  How do you suppose we’d make that fun?

“Hey guys!  What if we instigate inertia, frustrate force and grapple with gravity?”

“Simmer down there, Tigger!  Could be a little cliché, but it just might work!”

… and YAPA was born.  Now grapple with gravity yourself in this 3D physics puzzler from FideSoftware.  Don’t worry, you won’t have to use 9.81 m/s2 to solve these problems!  Not only is it fun to solve the puzzles, it’s fun to play the game.  There are over 45 great levels, each with its own, unique puzzle to solve.

Each time you solve a level, your score will be pitted against the best in the world.  Ever wonder if you’re the only one stuck on some level?  Now compete against the world and see where you rank.  Head into the tool bar (upper right icon) to update your rank and see how well you’re doing.

There aren’t a lot of games out there that are challenging to solve and yet, still fun to play.  YAPA crosses the bridge between games that are just fun to play and games that will really push you to solve a puzzle in the process.  Sure, there are some levels that are just fun to play, and there are some levels that are just hard to solve — after all, there’s got to be some variety, right!

We really think you’re going to enjoy this game.  We put it through a long beta period where we got a lot of feedback and made a lot of improvements so that you’ll get a game that’s even more entertaining and fun to play.  In the process, we found that most of our testers just couldn’t put down their iPhones after they started the game.  We think that’s probably the best review of all!

Checkout YAPA on the iTunes store today.

Say it with iCaptions!

Say it with iCaptions!

We’re excited to announce the availability of iCaptions for iPhone and iPod Touch.  Just added to the iTunes store yesterday, it’s already been generating a lot of buzz.

It’s the coolest way to add text to your photos before sending them to friends or saving to your phone.  With iCaptions you can draw a speech balloon (like in the comics) with a quick swipe of your finger.  Type your text.  Then dynamically resize and move the balloon to make the image just right before sending it out for the world to see!

Swipe.  Type.  Send.  It’s really that easy!

Cute isn’t your thing?  That’s fine too, use it to show the price on your used car or to label a unique plant you found camping.  The possibilities are endless — be creative!

iCaptions has the ability to save images to your Photo Library.  That means that you can use them in whatever application you want.  For example, if you want to send a pic message to a friend you could first use iCaptions to label the picture and then send it as a text message.  Post to your favorite social networking site or e-mail the picture to friends.  Whatever your use, it’s easy to share your images once you caption them.

So, what are you waiting for?  Check out iCaptions on the iTunes Store now!

papertoss

Folks, it really isn’t everyday that you get more than you pay for these days.  So it’s refreshing when you come across a deal.  Makes you feel smart for a moment, then (for some of us) you start to wonder, why?  Oh, but there’s going to be a catch like ads, or it will crash and delete all of the pictures of your mother-in-law’s party for herself.

While there are so many iPhone apps available at a moments notice, truly picking a great one is a difficult task.  How do you find a gem?  What really makes a great sleeper type app?

Obviously a matter of opinion, but for me, it must be some of the following:

  1. Unique.  C’mon, seriously?  How many list applications can there be?  (yeah, I’m developing one too, but it’s better I SWEAR!)
  2. Hold my attention for 3 to 5 minute durations and go away without a thought.
  3. FUN! (I know, not ambiguous at all…)
  4. Cheap.  Did I mention free?

I was lucky enough to be bored at 2:15 am the other night, and I came across “Paper Toss” from Backflip Studios.

This app/game is an absolute blast.  Meets all of the criterion above perfectly.  It brings back memories of “Office Space”.  As I’m playing I imagine the endless drone of the secretary iterating “Corporate accounts payable, just a moment” playing in the background.

Anyhow, what makes this app great is the fact it is so darn engaging.  Granted, I’m not really that hard to please, but you have to bring SOMETHING to the table to get me to pay.  Did I mention it’s free?!  No ads, no gimmicks, just a great little app.

There are 3 levels of play in this game, surprisingly entitled Easy, Medium and Hard.

How it works:
You’re bored at work and you decide to crumple up your TPS report and toss it in the trash, but alas, there’s that office fan (amazingly providing you with the wind speed like all office fans) angled in the direction of the waste basket.  You flick your chosen finger at the proper angle and “swish”, it’s in.  Or, you work with the wind to go COMPLETELY off course and peg a fellow office worker, to which you hear “Hey, this isn’t recess!”, “Why don’t you learn how to throw!” or some other insults from bordering office fodder.

Did I mention it was free?  Seriously, they need to fix that free problem. I’d have gladly handed over 199 pennies to play a great “bored at work” game while I’m bored at work.

4.5 Stars!  Fantastic job!
